Webinar for Lower Elementary Grades, EL, and Special Needs
Thursday, May 17, at 1 p.m. EST.
“The Speech to Print Connection, including Alphabet Knowledge”
This webinar will cover how you can empower children to match what they know best, speech, with what they need to know to learn to read, print. The ability to connect individual sounds with letter representations is a powerful predictor of future reading and spelling skills. Activities from the BUILDING BLOCKS program that strengthen letter naming, recognition, and sound-to-letter correspondence will be shared.
To join the webinar, visit http://ncld.adobeconnect.com/grtrspeechtoprint/ and enter as a "guest." (You’ll be able to hear the webinar through your computer speakers.)
We look forward to your participation. Please forward this webinar invitation to everyone you know who can make a difference in the future reading success of our youngest learners. And be sure to share this message on Facebook and Twitter:
P.S. Did you miss the first three webinars? You can view them on NCLD's GetReadytoRead.org "Early Literacy Webinars" page

Title I Survey of Funds
2012-2013 School Year
Out of the 114 (enrollment is 571) surveys returned (English and Spanish), 110 parents chose the School Wide Model for the use of Title I funds for the 2012-2013 school year. Parents were asked to rank how the funds should be used, based on seven choices provided by the Leadership Team. Classroom technology (65), instructional specialists/ tutors (60), and teacher professional development (48) were the top three choices. Instructional coaches and mentors (25) came in fourth, followed by parent involvement activities (14), paper (12), and intersession (7). One comment was provided by a parent requesting the school wide plan: Each teacher should maintain a personal website on which homework and notes are posted.
