Girls Inc. at the YWCA
Girls Inc. at the YWCA of Nashville and Middle Tennessee is a member of Girls Inc. National. The Girls Inc. research-based curriculum is specially developed for empowering every girl to be herself, to resist stereotypes, develop leadership skills, and achieve her dreams.
Girls Inc. focuses on at-risk girls in five Metro public schools, as well as summer programming at a community center, and addresses real-life issues such as violence prevention, pregnancy prevention, drug and alcohol awareness, and economic literacy. The YWCA is an affiliate member of Girls Inc., and uses its research-based curriculum to help girls become "strong, smart, and bold". Girls Inc. reached 204 middle school girls in FY10 with this valuable character education and life skills curriculum.
