Metro Schools adds two make-up days in March
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 22, 2011) – The Board of Education has approved a recommendation that will have Metro Nashville’s public school students attending school Friday, March 11 and Monday, March 14 to make up two days missed due to snow. Both days were originally scheduled as part of spring break for students, with Friday, March 11 originally a planning day for teachers. The addition of Monday, March 14, was made at the request of Director of Schools Jesse Register based in part on survey results from district families and staff that indicated they preferred March 14 over two other options.
This blog was created for the parents of A.Z. Kelley students to receive the latest SIT Lead (Title I) updates.

Subject: Parent Survey: Options for snow makeup days
Good Morning Everyone,
I wanted to be sure you were all aware of the phone survey that will be conducted by MNPS regarding the snow make up days. The information below is also available in the MNPS website (http://www.mnps.org/Page66932.aspx?BlogEntryID=79947).
Parent Survey: Options for snow makeup days
For the 2010-11 school year, we have missed ten days due to winter weather. It is imperative that we makeup instructional time before the critical TCAP testing that occurs April 13-20.
Pending teacher approval, Friday, March 11 will be a regular school day. This day was originally planned for teacher planning and will need teacher approval before it is converted into a school day.
We have three options for making up one more day before testing:
1. Attend school on Monday, March 14 - The first day of Spring Break
2. Attend school on Saturday, April 2
3. Lengthen the school day by 30 minutes for a 13 day period running March 21 - April 6
Before the decision is made, we want to hear what you think. There will be a parent survey conducted by district-wide callout on the evening of Monday, February 21. Please plan to be near your phone on this evening so that you can give your opinion on this important matter. If you know that you will not be able to take the survey, you may send an email to the Customer Service Center (MNPSCustomerService@mnps.org) or call them at 259-INFO (4636) between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
