Using the parent blog as a forum!

One of our teachers suggested we create some sort of online forum where parents can chat/ post comments, etc.
Well, we can use this blog for that! I believe you will need to set up a gmail account to do so, but that is very simple to do.
Hope to hear from you!

Below is an invitation in English and Spanish from El Shaddai Christian Church for the movie Hidden Rage/La Ira Escondida, on the issue of bullying…..
-------------
Dear Friends,

This is an invitation to you, and perhaps students and parents that you know and who might be interested in the issue of bullying
Please join us for the presentation of the movie "Hidden Rage".
Hidden Rage (www.hiddenrage.com) intends to reach out to the youths in today’s culture of violence. Through telling the story of a high school student’s experience and actions, the film deftly explores many of the possible triggers that might cause a person to snap. With an engaging storyline and an exploration of how rage can build inside a person, the film provides a warning and demonstration of the consequences of resorting to violence to solve problems.
Entertaining and educational, Hidden Rage fills a timely need and will act as a starting point for discussion in schools across the country.
The film creates an opportunity for relevant and timely dialogue about the rage and violence prevalent in today’s youth culture. The film is both.

When: February 11th.
Time: 5:30PM
Where: El Shaddai Christian Church
9826 Concord Rd. Brentwood, TN 37027
Phone: 615-941-8377

Our New Clothing Closet Incentive Program at Kelley!

Dear Parents,
As an incentive for attending parent involvement events at A.Z. Kelley, such as Question and Answer Sessions, All Pro Dad Breakfasts, EL Family Nights, EFNEP/UT Extension Nutrition Classes, Family Math and Literacy Nights, etc., you will have the opportunity to use our “Clothing Closet”. Each parent/ family in attendance will receive one ticket. This ticket will allow you to choose gently used donated clothing items, ranging in sizes from infant to adult. (The number of items and sizes will depend on the amount of clothing available at that time.)
In order to start such a project, we first need to receive some clothing donations. I am asking any teachers and families who have gently used clothing they are willing to donate, to bring them to the Family Resource Room Mondays and Wednesdays from 9am-3pm, or send them to the office with a note attached stating these items are for the Family Resource Room.
Thank you for supporting programs at A.Z. Kelley Elementary. If there are any resources your family needs, please contact me.
